The basic M3 is fully amphibious without preparation and can carry as APC up to 10 men...M3 armored personnel carrier was designed by Panhard with first prototype completed in 1969 and first production vehicle in 1971. The automotive components are 95% identical to these of the Panhard AML series. The hull is made of all-welded steel with a driver seated in a front of vehicle. The basic M3 is fully amphibious without preparation and can carry as APC up to 10 men in addition of a crew of 2 or it can carry 1360 kg of cargo. By the 1994 more than 1220 vehicles were made for export. Many of these vehicles are still in use with African armies, Iraq and Arab Emirates.
